Hi,

I have 2  very old Scientific Atlanta DVRs from TWC.

Ever since new software was downloaded to them, they no longer go to the Last Channel, but rather to a dedicated Spectrum Channel #1998.

When I go to Setup there no longer is an option for Power On Channel.

The boxes are also running extremely slowly can I exchange them for something better?

Or at least can I get back the Last Channel functionality?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

No problem.  You should call Spectrum and say your boxes are  running slow and you need to get  them exchanged for updated models.  Are you in a legacy TWC or legacy Charter market?  The guides and boxes vary, but you will definitely get something better than an SA-model.  Those things are ancient!

The newer boxes are Cisco/Technicolor, Samsung, and Arris.  Spectrum generally has 4-tuner boxes and in rare cases 6-tuner boxes, in addition to 2-tuner boxes.  Try to ask for at least  4-tuner boxes.  You will be able to record more shows with more tuners.

If you don't want to call ,or faster service, log into Twitter, or set up a Twitter account.  Follow the @Ask Spectrum page, and send a Direct Message (Private Message) with your account information, the problems with the slowness of the boxes, and request updated model boxes.  I would also recommend that you specify that Spectrum do a signal and drop line test when they visit.  Specify this in the Direct Message.  Try to avoid resetting any boxes, modems, or routers, for six hours prior to your tech visit.  Doing so will reset the error codes in the techs readings.  New boxes  won't solve bad signals!  The tech should check your signals and drop line first.  Than he will get you new boxes.  The new boxes will be faster and have more storage.
