Hi Joey,
While all the information on this new Cloud-Based Spectrum Guide is tentative and subject to change at this point, the plan is to have NEW SPECTRUM CUSTOMERS (Formerly Charter) and NEW SPECTRUM CUSTOMERS (Formerly TWC) on the new guide by the end of 2019.. Some areas may be converted by the end of 2018.
After that, existing customers of TWC/Brighthouse Networks/Charter will follow and be converted to the new Spectrum Guide. The info that I have is when that time comes, existing subs will have an OPTION to update to the guide through their remote control.
Spectrum just released an update to the TWC-Navigator Guide that has a few changes. This surprised me, and it shows that existing TWC customers won't be updated to the new Spectrum Guide for awhile. The update to the new Spectrum Guide will be rolled out on new customer accounts first. The reason for the change is although Spectrum is happy with the Advanced Navigator Guide, (The one on modern boxes,) they can't take that guide and deploy it to all platforms like they can with the new Spectrum Guide. Spectrum, in coming years, wants the guide to be the same across boxes, Internet, and mobile platforms.
The new Spectrum Guide will run on the boxes that are newer, directly. (Arris, Cisco, Samsung.) Older boxes (SA, Motorola, Pace) will have the new guide stored on a cloud at Spectrum with two-way relay communication in all cases between the boxes and the device in question. However, in the future, all new boxes given out will be "World Boxes." On those, everything is cloud-based including the clock. (No clock on the panel.)
