The HDTV has an Arris connected and I'm not having any problems with that one.
However, on an older TV, I have a Samsung attached.
The Samsung was stopping all together and needed rebooting at least once a week. I called a technician and expected the box to be replaced. Instead, he just looked in the outside cable box and said he made some adjustments. If the box acted up again, just reset on the back.
After 3 weeks, it's back to needing rebooting.
If I call another technician, should I expect or request a replacement box?
Hello,
Got the inside authority of several techs, two great ones that I remember at my house years ago, and help from online people really knowledgeable. If you have excessive rebooting, you have a bad box and it needs to be replaced. In rare cases if your signals are horrible, you may have excessive rebooting, but than as explained to me, you would have problems with all the boxes, poor Internet, and phone service if this is a signal issue.
Swap out that box. It should not reboot anymore than once following an install. Give it like forty-five minutes after that, and if it doesn't reboot, your fine. The tech should still check the signals with his meter just in case. But ninety percent of the time, when you have excessive rebooting of a box, you have a bad box. Especially since the Arris is fine.
