It is standared for the tech to come in wearing his boots and carrying his signal meeter to follow the signals for several minutes. Than, he is supposed to go outside and check the drop line. Often times, he will ask to see the basement wiring if the drop is OK. Remember, don't reboot any boxes or modems for six hours prior to your appointment.
