Thank you for taking the time to answer!
Here are the answers to your questions:
1.) What is the make and model of your cable box?
Cisco.
2.) Are you running the New Spectrum Guide or ODN Navigator, or I-Guide?
ODN.
3.) Is the low volume across all cable channels?
YES.
4.) Did this result happen with a swapped, box, where a different box was fine?
NO.
5.) Have you tried adjusting the SOUND settings, using your TV remote? (not cable remote.)
YES. (I've tried setting the Cable sound to zero, and using the TV sound instead, and vice versa, but neither helped.)
I also checked the Settings, and they are as you suggested and they were already set to FIXED, NARROW, STEREO.
ONE NEW OBSERVATION: I just noticed that if I play a recording I made a few minutes ago, the volume is fine. Makes me wonder if there's some Setting (cable box?, TV?) that is reducing the volume if I turn the TV and cable box off before we play the recordings?
I hope this helps.
Thanks again,
Alan
RIght now,
I would put this problem on watch. You don't really want to swap out the box, because the Cisco is a great box, and you might wind up with Spectrum Guide, which has some glitches that have not been worked out yet. If you have an ODN box, hold on to it for as long as you can. I also have a six-tuner Cisco 9865, and it's great! They rarely give out the six-tuner boxes anymore. It's either a four-tuner World box, or an older two-tuner model. And that's my concern if you do a service call on this.
If it happens again, maybe try a new HDMI cable and make sure it's new, and a good one. You will need to spend about $20. That might help with this issue. If that doesn't work, or this issue comes back, do a service call, but just say to the tech, "I really don't want to replace my box." Now, this assumes that the lower volume is the only issue.
