For years now watching anything on On Demand has had serious issues. If I am watching something and I leave it paused long enough for it to go back to the default On Demand commercials, when I start it again it restarts the show from the beginning. On shows that don't allow fast forwarding this is a serious problem. It used to be that it only did this in the situation I stated, but recently it has started doing it even if I stop the program myself, so I can really only watch something on On Demand if I can watch it from beginning to end without interruption, which is almost impossible for me.
Hello,
My box has the option to restart from the beginning or continue watching. When you press on Demand on your remote, do you get an "In Progress" list from the channel portal? I always get the option to Resume or Restart a show. You have no option to resume a show at all? This should not be happening.
What is the make and model of your cable box? I agree that you do get kicked back to the On- Demand menu after about five minutes of pausing. However, you should only have to restart if you want to do that.
You might want to get a tech out and show him this. One of the main features of VOD is to watch when you want, and to pick up a show from where you want. Something is wrong. Get this checked.
Lack of being able to fast-forward on some VOD stations is because of the station making that decision. It is either put up with the ads or they would drop On Demand altogether. Some stations do allow fast-forwarding of commercials.
