Thats is problem I deleted these series a few days ago, and the next day there back and I know these series are not being added by accident. At least a hundred series, and if left unattended there wont be anything space left on the drive. I dont use this DVR i would rather use my pc with the built in tuner. Cisco model 9865, I'm looking for a reset so maybe I could wipe the ROM and reset averything to default. This should have been done by spectrum if the box is truly refurbished. When you refurbish electronics you supposed to do this instead of unloading the problem on another customer.

Greetings,

I have the same Cisco 9865.  For me, it has been a good box with little to no problems.  How long have you had these problems with "Phantom Series Recordings?"  This sounds like a box problem assuming no humans are doing this.   I would like you to try one thing, after that, I would get a tech out to investigate

The thing is I have never seen a series recording problem so acute where you are getting in your words 100 shows just showing up for now reason.  I have heard of the box recording the wrong episode of a series.  This has happened to me.  I have heard of a show from time to time not recording.  I know that there are listing bugs with this release.

Do you have the guide version where an Access Menu shows up each time the box is powered on?  If so, did these phantom recordings start with this last update?

1.) I would like you to try to delete each and every show that you or a family member did not set up yourself.  You should be able to delete multiple shows at once.  Than, wait for a few minutes, power off your box and unplug it for about ten minutes.

2.) Next, plug the box back in, waiting for the clock to show on the screen and turn the box back on.  Make a note of the shows you and your family set to record for about a week so that each knows the shows that are expected to be on the Scheduled Recordings and Series Manager List.  You can use your computer or some other access to keep track of the shows that you or a known family member have programmed.

3.) Let's monitor the box for a good 5-7 days.  As time passes, if you see a show in the recording list or series manager that shouldn't be there, and no one else in the family programmed it, get a tech out at that time.  You have a bad box that needs replacement.  If you get through that first week with no phantom recordings, it is my hope that the unplug and cold boot following the 10 minute wait, cleared out some bad data forcing these unknown recordings to come back.  No phantom recordings after say ten days?  I would consider the problem solved.  Don't forget to keep track of the shows and series that your family has set.  We need to look for recordings that are just appearing for no reason.  Begin monitoring this, following the cold reboot of your box.
