Scenario: I have a recording that has some kind of error, e.g. a screen glitch or pause.
While playing back the recording if I happen to be fast forwarding when the glitch occurs the player jumps out of playback and sets the playback position back at the beginning.
This is VERY INCREDIBLY annoying for long recordings like NASCAR if it occurs half way through the race. After this happens you have to forward to just before that location and hopefully press play at just the right moment so that you can play at normal speed through the glitch.
Has anyone else experienced this?
TWC are you aware of this?
Since it occurs on two completely different models of DVR I strongly suspect it is a software bug.
Greetings,
I would get a tech out to check your signal levels and drop line just to rule out a signal problem like Ms Raye suggested. When you set up the service call, please mention this bug and the fact that two different model DVR's have done the same thing. Avoid resetting your cable box, Internet Modem or router for at least six hours, before the tech comes. A reset of the equipment will also reset the system error codes to show no errors. The tech needs to see the error code numbers to determine if this is a signal issue.
If your signal levels are good, than I would suggest contacting Spectrum through a PM in this forum. Say you have had a tech out, and signals are good, but two DVR's of different models show this problem. Ask that this feedback be reported to the Guide Development Team, and the Spectrum employee will forward that information to them.
The World Boxes may not be immune from this bug IF this is a software issue. I would disagree with Ms. Raye in that regard. But I agree with her that you should set up a service call for a signal test. Tune to the channel on which you often watch auto racing so that the tech can take a reading. Tell the tech that you are not interested in a box swap, because you have done that with different models where the bug is still there.
