The latest software for SPectrum, and past few years for Time- Warner only allows one to delay recording of a show for up to 15 minutes, and has very broad choices for continuing to record after a scheduled time (like 1 hour, 2 hr). These are grossly inadequate if one has the 2 show recorder or one simply does not want to record 4 hours of a show just to watch the last 15 minutes. Previous Time Warner, and other companies, have software that allows specific recording choices (such as delay 2 hours, delay 3 hour, end 1 hour early, etc). There are way too many times where one wants to record to a specific point, or starting at a specific point, to avoid conflicts with other recordings. This is essential. And a very simple software issue. I worked with Time Warner explaining the need for a better sleep time software years ago, and that was a breeze. Please add this simple added function.
I can add by example and agree 100% with the above,
With "The New Guide" Navigator 8.0, users can only pad up to 2 hours of additional time past the start time in The Guide. Therefore, if you recorded last night's World Series on your DVR, it would have cut off at the 5hr mark. (A three hour time grid show, plus adding the maximum two hours of recording time.) The game was 5 hours and 20 minutes, so if you are a Spectrum customer who DVR'd the game, there was no way you could see the final twenty minutes and that thrilling finish at a later time.
One of two things MUST happen to prevent this circumstance in the future:
1.) The ability to record say up to 8 hours for a single event in extending recording times. OR
2.) The ability to manually record a show with a specific start and stop time specified by the user,
3.) Or BOTH options 1 and 2 in a future software update.
Please forward these requests to the program guide development team.
