The resolution is quite better than what I had been using which was IPTV but with a fiber connection of 1 gig down. But they set the bitrate too low and hurt it. Directv usually is one of the best and at least on the sytem I'm on it appears to be about equal. Using the world box 201-T. Will see if it stays that way.
What I don't like is the fact cannot FF the on-demand shows themselves. I've read posts about this and always putting the blame on providers. Also, lot of the regular channels the on-demand is in SD for the latest show.
Using SYFI show called Ghost wars for example. The latest show is in SD and cannot FF the actual show. But using a media box and entering account info for Spectrum on SYFI so I can use it, the latest show is there in HD and I can FF the show itself.
So, if the providers are saying no to FF the actual show which makes no sense, then why is the same provider allowing it using Spectrum sign on their app? I cannot FF the commericals of course. On-demand is a waste like this and I rarely ever use it. Plus it means I will not hold back changing because of Spectrum on-demand. The layout is good but its messed up with the silly rules.
There is no common sense reason not to FF the actual show. That is way I'm use to being able to do. But since everyone claims on-demand is a free feature they ignore complaints, or so they say. Noway I believe its free from a corporation. Be best to charge extra if want on-demand & allowing people to do as they wish.
So for now if I need to use 0n-demand I'll use the providers app instead because HD faster and can FF the show. Makes no sense Spetrum to do it that way. The premiums are fine of course.
Hi Rider,
You bring up a great post! If the content is HD on the application or some other device, it should also be HD on the cable box. I would contact the Sci Fi channel directly with this question through any social media contact. Website, Twitter, (etc.)
The no fast-forwarding through commercials is a station provider issue for some On Demand shows. There are contract provisions between station providers and station vendors that say the host has the right to do that to make money. Some stations allow fast-forwarding through commercials. Most do not. If they didn't the provider may be forced to raise prices just for the channel to make up for the lost revenue. I'll take the commercials over a price increase, any day!
