Re: Internet service with Spectrum is atrocious and they do not seem to want to do anything about it

Hello,

Some questions, Do you rent or have your own modem?  If you have Wireless Internet, do you have or rent your own router.  If you own your own equipment, you will need to have at least a DocSis 3.0 modem and you should also have a Series N or higher router to get strong dynamic range.

The work order for problems on the pole should be completed at most within five days.  First, try a reboot of your equipment, and see if you are still pulling in such low speeds.  If you are, I would get another tech out.  It sounds like the first tech did not do a good job, and you can request a follow up inspection in the work order.  You should wait a few days to see if your speeds have improved.  It sounds like you have done that, and need a follow up service call.

When you set up this next service call, don't reset anything for six hours, (no boxes, modems, or routers.)  This resets the error codes to zero, and the tech needs to see the error codes for an accurate reading.

If you own the modem/router, and your signals, lines, and wiring are OK at the drop and in the home, you may need to upgrade your equipment to what I mentioned above.  If you rent from Spectrum and your line drop and inside/outside wiring are good, the tech should upgrade your Internet equipment that you rent from Spectrum with a newer model on his truck that gives you the faster speeds.  You will also need to be on a Spectrum billing plan, and not a legacy TWC plan to get the fastest speeds.  Billing plans can ONLY be changed through customer service.  Legacy TWC billing plans only goes up to 5O MB for Internet.
