Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed that the caller ID on my TV doesn't come through until the phone has rung five or six times.  This has happened slowly starting with two to three rings and is now up to the five or six rings.

Hi Dave,

The caller ID on TV would have nothing to do with the box, so some good news there.  There might be something with the processing of the data in your node.

I would like you to try rebooting ALL of your equipment through a cold reboot process just to see if that fixes this:

  • Shut down your computer
  • Power off your TV
  • Power off your cable box
  • Unplug your cable box
  • unplug your modem
  • unplug  your router

You don't have to reach for the plug on your modem or router.  Just unplug the black power cord on the back of the unit(s.)

Leave them off for five minutes totally.  Next, plug in your modem and wait for all the lights to come back on first.  Do the same thing with your router.  Boot your computer up last after the modem and router have come back online.  Plug your cable box back in and allow it to reboot.  See if the next call that comes in has a delayed response from the Caller ID on TV prompt.  if it does, we need some more information:

  • Where are you located?  City, State, and zip?
  • When did the caller ID delay of prompt begin?
  • If the cold reboot of all the equipment does not help, come back to the thread and ask the mods to open up a Support Ticket for Caller ID on TV being delayed til about the fifth ring in your area.  (This is why we need your city, state and zip.)
  • If there is no report of a troubleshooting ticket with regards to the delay on caller ID showing on TV in your area, you can ask the mods to create one.

Important Note- In the rare cases that I have had service calls, at least three techs said that when the come to the residence, they can't do anything for Caller ID on TV with regards to fixing it or box swaps to fix Caller ID on TV.  Caller ID on TV needs six to twenty four hours to activate on a swapped box, but it is not an individual component that can be fixed from the home.  One tech said that Caller ID on TV was out for three weeks at his house once, and than it just started working again.  The company views Caller ID on TV as a free bonus, so if there is an issue with it, there is a network/node area problem with it.  There has to be a location ticket opened and it is a network element, not a box element.  The reason for doing the cold reboot first, is to help synchronize all of the cloud based components of the system to the network.
