Why does it seem like my cable boxes freeze up a couple times every month. Then I have to unplug them for more than 20 minutes. Then wait what feels like forever it boot up. Spectrum is still Time Warner Cable, with the junky equipment and bad tv service. Nothing has change as far as I can tell. Getting very frustrated and I have only been back with them for a couple of months.
Hello Oahu,
You will need to contact Spectrum for a signal and drop line test. Specify this in the work order when you call. Signal, lines, and wiring are the first things that must be checked, as a swapped box will never solve these issues. To prepare for this test, avoid rebooting or resetting your equipment for six hours prior to your service call. Equipment resets will return the signal error codes to zero. This applies to cable boxes, modems, and routers. The tech needs to see these error codes. Old wiring from outside or inside the home may be the culprit of the freezing picture. The line tap may also need to be checked. Try to tune to a channel that freezes the most when the tech visits.
If all these things are good, the tech may need to swap the box.
