This morning I checked the recording log for my Cisco 9865HDC to find out why 2 programs didn't record yesterday evening. There was an error message saying "Not recorded because channel was unavailable" for both shows. Oddly, another show, on one of those same stations, recorded just fine, immediately prior to the missing program. Which tells me the problem really has nothing to do with channel availability; it's just an annoying and all too common bug with enhanced DVR boxes.
Those things and the frequent frustration with shows that record for just one (1) minute is the reason I check all the connections and reboot the device on a regular basis.
But what really surprised me was the discovery that enhanced DVR doesn't just let you record up to 5 shows at the same time...it apparently also has some type of psychic ability! WHAT??? Yep, there's 2 shows in the recording log, dated 6/17 and 6/18 with the same message: "Not recorded because program was not available". Ya think??? Those shows aren't even scheduled to air for a day or two!!!

You should not have to reboot the box often, if shows are not recording, or you are getting not recorded messages frequently. please set up a servce call for a signal and drop line test. I have a DVR, and cannot remember the last time I had to reboot the box. Either you have weak signals, a bad drop-line, or the box may be going bad.
