I can get to step #6, but step #7 doesn't always work since HDTVs (Samsung and Vizio that are a few years old like from 2013) don't back turn on when I use RCs' power button. I have had this problem with cable's previous RCs. It seems like I have to do it fast? It took me like 10 times for each RC and HDTV in the past including today's new one. Argh! I got an old Samsung that works very well from 2009 and I was able to program the code right away. If it took you multiple tries, you might want to make sure that the batteries are fresh in that thing and make sure that you have tried ALL the codes manually if auto set up doesn't work. How old is the remote?
You know what Ant, regarding those above steps in that link, the remote I have now is a Clickr Backlight. Go to a Spectrum store and exchange the Phillips for a Clickr Backlight Remote. They work much better. I have used several.

Satch, that is what the front desk guy gave me. I was surprised it was the same exact model. It was shrinkwrapped in the bag with two weird branded batteries. It's basically like getting a new digital cable boxes from TWC with their included RCs. Are Clickr Bacllight Remote preprogrammed for Arris cable digital boxes like RC122?

All of the Spectrum remotes given out will work with their boxes. I was given a Clickr Backlight remote by a tech when he installed a new main line. I had one previously. It's the only brand of remote that I have used for at least the five past years, so it's not like an old brand or anything, I have had Arris and Cisco boxes that work with that remote.
