As for the recording sequence, it depends on the DVR, some use the older system.

Get a tech out to check your signals. The recent Guide Update should not be causing that much of a slowdown. What is the make and model of your box? I would mention the slowness in a PM to Spectrum, along with your account information. Get a tech out to check your signal levels and drop line.
