The 8762 is in my room, so am concerned about the extremely sluggish performance. I've had to wait upwards of 20 seconds after a button press. I've also had issues where the picture/audio was glitch power cycled the box.
I'm already disappointed in going back to two tuners (my roommate had the account previously, boxes had 6).
The Spectrum rep stated these were the latest boxes, but really, the performance makes them feel extremely dated. Any suggestions? All the connections I can locate are solid, and this wasn't a problem less than a month ago (with the other hardware).
Hello,
I would contact Spectrum for a signal and drop line test, and show the tech the button press and the box's slow response time. The six-tuner boxes are the Cisco 9865 and the Arris 3600-M. Ask the tech about an upgrade to one of those. But before you do that, you must get your signal levels and drop-line checked, as a new box will not solve signal issues, which can cause slow performance.
Avoid resetting any equipment for six hours before your appointment. This will reset the error codes to zero and the tech needs to see those. Both the Cisco 9865 and the Arris 3600-M are six-tuner boxes and are very fast.
You can set up a signal and drop-line test by getting a Twitter account following the @Ask Spectrum account. Send a Direct Message after following the account, requesting a signal and drop-line test service call. The main junction box on your street should also be checked. If all that is good, you may want to try one of the box models that I mentioned above. Send your account information in the PM as well when you set up that service call.
