The tech from Spectrum just left my house and the 1gbps speed is up and running with my Nighthawk AC1900 (R7000). Now, here's what we've discovered along the way:
It was a problem with the modem: the new modems that Spectrum just rolled out in the last two weeks (from what I heard, it was a Ubee modem) do not work with this particular Nighthawk router. I don't know if it's all third-party wireless routers, but it prevented the router from obtaining a connection with the modem.
The modem that works with the Nighthawk is a Technicolor TC4400-AM: This modem is apparently being replaced by the Ubee modem. Once it was plugged into a factory-reset wireless router, it worked perfectly and setup was painless.
So I would say this: if you plan on upgrading to Spectrum GIG service and want to use your own wireless router, ask for the Technicolor TC4400-AM modem. It works with the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 (R7000) and might with your wireless router. Save yourself a four-day headache like me!
What is the cost of the upgrade to Gig Service?
